M.A. Contemplative Psychotherapy, (MACP)
Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado - 2001 Sherri completed her Master's of Arts in Contemplative Psychotherapy, (Buddhist Psychology), from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado in 2001. Sherri went on to become Core Faculty and Co-Chair of Naropa's MACP Department until 2008. Sherri's training in clinical psychology is an integration of Western psychodynamic theory and body based mindfulness-awareness practices. Sherri has found that Mind-Body integration is key to all manner of recovery. Intensive Psychotherapy (IP) Training Windhorse Community Services, Inc Boulder, Colorado - 2007 Sherri completed the first 2 year Intensive Psychotherapy (IP) training for Senior Clinicians of Windhorse Community Services, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado offered by Jeffrey Fortuna, M.A.. Jeffrey Fortuna was the Clinical Director of WCS, Inc. and Senior Student remaining after Windhorse founder, psychiatrist Dr. Ed Podvoll, died in 2003. Jeff Fortuna conducted and personally supervised Sherri's training and clinical work, (*Required for Senior Windhorse Clinicians to provide Intensive Psychotherapy (IP) services to individuals receiving Windhorse clinical support thereafter.) Virgina Satir Family Systems Training Boulder, Colorado - 2008 & 2009 All families need support. Families with loved ones who have special needs are often overwhelmed. They frequently feel like they are facing challenges all alone. Nourishing the needs of all members in a family is a particular strength of Sherri's. Virgina Satir was a family therapist who believed all members within a family move to higher orders of health when each member within the family is supported and nurtured. Sherri completed Virgina Satir's Family Systems Training in Boulder, Colorado, under the tutelage of Sandy Novak, MS, MA, SEP, LPC. Sherri incorporates a compassionate family systems view into all support services she offers. Doctoral Work, (PhDc), Western Institute for Social Research - 2011-2012 Sherri began her doctoral work at WISR in Berkeley, CA, translating the Windhorse Model into layperson language to make it more accessible and of greater benefit to more people, in 2011. The death of two members of Sherri's nuclear family, (2012 and 2013), resulted in Sherri taking a leave of absence from doctoral work. Sherri plans to return to doctoral work at WISR in 2016, transferring credits completed toward a PhD in Social Change toward a doctoral degree in Higher Education, (EdD). |

Windhorse Integrative Mental Health, San Luis Obispo - 2011 to 2012 Sherri was the Clinical Director for "Windhorse West," Windhorse Integrative Mental Health's office in San Luis Obispo, California, (2011-2012). Sherri brought Windhorse's root teachings and clinical expertise to California from Colorado as a Windhorse lineage holder during its founding year. Sherri was delighted to impart all she learned directly from the founder of Windhorse, psychiatrist Dr. Ed Podvoll, to clinicians eager to learn in California. Years of clinical experience, supervision and training under the guidance of Dr. Podvoll's senior student, Jeff Fortuna, MA, LPC, allowed Sherri's mastery of the Windhorse Approach to deepen the roots of Windhorse West's services during its foundational year. Program Director, CBEM Creating Behavioral & Educational Momentum, Napa - 2012 to Present Sherri founded CBEM, Creating Behavioral and Educational Momentum's newest office in Napa, California in November 2012. Sherri trained, supervised and directed a clinical staff of 10 CIS, (Critical Intervention Specialists). The CBEM CIS Team provides crisis stabilization services to individuals living with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Developmental Disabilities (DD), and Intellectual Disabilities (ID), with co-occurring mental health challenges. The Team supports clients' families and their circles of support as well. Sherri feels privileged to help stabilize individuals across all environs so clients can remain in their own homes while recovering from all manner of life's traumas and challenges, mental health, behavioral, emotional, developmental, and otherwise. |
